BCCI : The world of cricket is currently in a state of upheaval, as Chetan Sharma, the former Indian cricketer, and chief selector of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has resigned from his position. The development comes in the aftermath of a viral sting operation featuring Sharma, which created a massive buzz in the cricket fraternity. According to sources, Sharma has submitted his resignation to the BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who has subsequently accepted it.
A Shocking Revelation
The recent events have come to light after a video of a sting operation conducted by Zee News went viral. The operation featured Chetan Sharma, who made some shocking claims regarding the former Indian captain Virat Kohli and his alleged ego clash with the former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.
In the video, Sharma has accused Kohli of lying about not being communicated by either the BCCI or Ganguly regarding his captaincy. Sharma further alleged that Kohli had an ego clash with Ganguly during a press conference ahead of the 2020-21 South Africa tour, where he was heard calling Kohli a ‘liar.’ The former pacer alleged that Kohli had a go at Ganguly during the explosive press conference, as he felt that he lost the captaincy because of the then BCCI chief.
Serious Allegations
Sharma’s claims have opened a can of worms, raising serious questions about the conduct of some of the Indian cricket team’s players. In the sting video, Sharma has claimed that some players took injections to pass their fitness tests before international games. He said that the players are not fit, but they take injections to play. Even if they are around 85 percent fit, they will say ‘Sir let us play’ but they are not cleared by the medical team, and that is where the problem lies. According to Sharma, the players always want to play, and they never refuse to play.
The former player also raised eyebrows by claiming that Hardik Pandya would take over as captain in the long run and that Rohit Sharma would no longer be a part of the T20I setup. Sharma’s statements have brought the entire cricketing fraternity under the scanner, with fans and experts alike speculating about the truth behind his claims.
