President Droupadi Murmu launched the advanced stealth frigate 'Vindhyagiri' for the Indian Navy in Kolkata.

The launch signifies India's commitment to self-reliance through indigenous shipbuilding.

The frigate was built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE) in Kolkata.

Esteemed dignitaries, including Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar, attended the event.

'Vindhyagiri' is the sixth vessel in the Project 17A Frigate series.

The ship is named after the 'Vindhya' ranges in Karnataka.

P17A ships are guided missile frigates with capabilities across air, surface, and sub-surface dimensions.

President Murmu praised the GRSE team and highlighted the milestone towards an 'atmanirbhar Bharat'.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar highlighted the Indian Navy's commitment to self-reliance and technological advancement.
