  1. Second ODI between India and West Indies at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica, 2009 India was reduced to 7/3 and then 82/8, and it appeared as if India was going to lose the game. Dhoni stepped up and formed a 101-run partnership with RP Singh for the ninth wicket. His innings was valiant, and he scored a 130-ball 95, but India lost the match.
  2. Fourth Test match between India and England at Nagpur, 2012 India was trailing by 259 runs in the series, and it was the last chance to avert a series loss. Dhoni joined forces with Virat Kohli to form a 198-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Although Kohli reached his century, Dhoni fell agonizingly short of it by one run, with Alastair Cook’s direct hit finding him short for a 246-ball 99. India could not win the match, and it resulted in England winning the series 2-1.

India won the match by 22 runs.
